When we breathe, our body constantly reacts to the oxygen intake which leads to the production of energy within the body cells. This process is consistent and also produces free radicals. There are some external factors too that increase the amount of free radicals released in our body. These free radicals, if not controlled, can cause considerable harm to the body cells resulting into oxidative stress. But, the human body is built up meticulously and to avoid such damage our body releases the defensive mechanism (the good guys) called anti-oxidants which clean away the free radicals. Glutathione is an example of an antioxidant.
