Tux Guitar – A Free Alternative To Guitar Pro

For Windows, Mac, Linux Distros

I recently switched to Tux Guitar as it is much faster to operate and light weighted. It’s not as wholesome as Guitar Pro but if you are looking out for a simple, free (not freeware) and powerful tablature editor and playback then Tux Guitar is the real deal. Guitar Pro is really good when it comes to features and functionality. Tux Guitar is better when it comes to functionality, stability and price(free)! I have been using Guitar Pro since a long time and as of now there is no software to beat it’s capability. But, paying for too many features that is not needed is something we (at least most us) do not like. This is why i switched to Tux Guitar(Open Source) that caters exactly to what i need. It’s light weight and free Tablature editor with features to fulfill the bare essentials with little extras.

  • Consumes very less memory if compared to Guitar Pro
  • Tablature editor
  • Score Viewer
  • Multitrack display
  • Auto-scroll while playing
  • Note duration management
  • Various effects (bend, slide, vibrato, hammer-on/pull-off)
  • Support for triplets (5,6,7,9,10,11,12)
  • Repeat open and close
  • Time signature management
  • Tempo management
  • Imports and exports gp3,gp4 and gp5 files
  • Inbuilt Guitar Tuner
  • Fretboard Display

Go ahead and download your own copy of Tux Guitar.
